Who registers in this exercise

The deadlines that sit outside the calendar

These are the ones that catch families out, because they fall months or years before the exercise:

DeadlineWhat it gates
1 July 2025Last date to join a school as a parent volunteer for Phase 2B eligibility.
30 June 202640 volunteer hours must be complete by this date for Phase 2B.
19 May 2026 – 25 May 2026Indication-of-interest window for international students intending to take Phase 3.
30 June 2026Start of the 30-month stay condition for a place won on home-school distance, where the family already lives at the address.
School's own cut-offAlumni association membership for the Phase 2A alumni route — set by each school, not by MOE.

What to do on results day

Results are on the P1 Registration Portal from 8.00am, and MOE also sends an SMS. If the registration was unsuccessful there is nothing to appeal — you register again in the next phase you qualify for. See results and next steps.

One change worth knowing about

MOE has said it will gradually reduce the Primary 1 intake at the majority of primary schools over the coming years, starting with the 2026 exercise, in view of falling cohort sizes. Smaller intakes mean fewer places per phase, which can make a school ballot at a lower level of demand than its history suggests. Treat past-year data as a guide to the shape of demand, not as a fixed threshold.
