P1 Registration Phase 2C Supplementary: What Happens If You Miss Out

MOE’s criterion:

• For a child who is not yet registered in a primary school after Phase 2C.

Phase 2C Supplementary of the 2026 exercise ran from 17 – 18 August 2026, 9.00am on the first day to 4.30pm on the last. Results were released on 27 August 2026.

What changes in this phase

The choice narrows. You are no longer picking from all 179-odd primary schools; you are picking from the ones with places left, and MOE publishes that list together with the number of vacancies at each. Everything else works the same way: one school, a ballot if the phase is oversubscribed at that school, and the same citizenship and distance ladder inside the ballot.

How to pick under time pressure

• Start from the vacancy list, not from your original shortlist. A school that was never in your plan but has 40 vacancies and sits 600 m from your block is a better outcome than a stretch registration you lose.
• Weigh the commute honestly. This is six years of a daily journey, at Primary 1 speed. A school two bus transfers away is a different life from a school you can walk to.
• Check your distance band on MOE’s SchoolFinder for every school on the shortlist, not just the ones you assume you are near.

If Phase 2C Supplementary is unsuccessful

MOE posts the child to a school that still has a vacancy, working to place children near their home where it can. A place is guaranteed — what is not guaranteed is that it is a school you chose. That is the real cost of leaving the whole exercise to the last phase.
