How to Register for Primary 1: The Portal, Singpass and What to Have Ready

Before the exercise opens

• Get Singpass 2FA working. This is the most common avoidable failure. Log in once, well before the exercise, and confirm the account is valid and 2FA is set up.
• Confirm your registered address. The address MOE uses is the one on your NRIC. If you have moved, update it before registration — this is what your distance band is computed from.
• Work out your earliest eligible phase. Register in the earliest phase you genuinely qualify for; there is no benefit to waiting for a later one.
• Check your band on SchoolFinder for every school on your shortlist.

Registering

1. Log in to the P1 Registration Portal with Singpass and 2FA when your phase opens. Only one parent registers.
2. Review the phases and schools the portal says your child is eligible for. If something looks wrong — a sibling not recognised, volunteer hours not reflected — contact the school immediately, on a registration day, rather than proceeding.
3. Choose one school. You register at a single school per phase; there is no ranked list of choices.
4. Provide whatever supporting information the portal asks for. What is needed depends on the phase and your circumstances, and the portal tells you.
5. Submit, and keep the acknowledgement.

Things that are true in every phase

• Timing inside the window does not matter. Registration is not first-come-first-served.
• One school per phase. You cannot hedge across two schools in the same phase.
• The school can help. Schools staff their phone lines and email on registration days, 9.00am to 4.30pm, specifically for this.

Results

Results appear in the portal from 8.00am on the results date, and MOE sends an SMS. Then either you report to the school as instructed, or you register in the next phase. See what happens after the result, and the full date calendar.
