About the Singapore Block Liveability Index
An independent, data-driven scorecard for every HDB block in Singapore — built to help people choose where to live using measurable facts instead of agent talk or forum anecdotes.
What this is
The SG Block Index scores all 10,471 HDB blocks in Singapore from 0–100 across nine liveability pillars — transport, connectivity, schools, food, healthcare, daily needs, green space, leisure and value — and rolls them into five persona scores (overall, young families, seniors, renters and investors). Every score is computed from official government data covering 12,476 amenities, real public-transport commute times, and resale-price records. See exactly how in the methodology.
How it’s built
The whole site is generated from a single frozen data snapshot, rebuilt on a schedule. Pages make no live database or API calls at view time — what you read is a validated, versioned dataset, so numbers are stable and reproducible. Three principles guide it:
- Official sources only. Data comes from data.gov.sg (under the Singapore Open Data Licence), OneMap and the Singapore Land Authority — no scraped listings.
- No fabricated numbers. Every figure on every page interpolates from the dataset. Where the data is thin, we show an honest gap rather than invent a value.
- Measured, not guessed. Commute times are real door-to-door journeys routed on OneMap, not straight-line estimates; school proximity uses the actual 1 km / 2 km registration bands.
What it is not
This is not a property portal, and we are not agents. There are no listings, no accounts, no ads, and nothing for sale here. When you have narrowed a shortlist and want to speak to someone, you can opt in to be connected with an agent — but the research is free and independent, and the scores are never influenced by anyone paying for placement.
Data & licensing
Contains information from data.gov.sg made available under the Singapore Open Data Licence, and from OneMap, Singapore Land Authority. Scores are computed estimates for research and general information — not financial, legal or professional advice — and derive from a snapshot (2026-08) that may lag current conditions.
