Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands: the concert-goer’s guide

Two theatres inside Marina Bay Sands — musicals, residencies and fan meets under one roof.

The Sands Theatre and Grand Theatre sit inside the Marina Bay Sands complex on Bayfront Avenue, between the casino and the Shoppes. They host long-run musicals, concert residencies, awards shows and artist fan meets — the polished, ticketed end of Singapore's live calendar.

You arrive through a resort, not a venue: the theatres open off the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, so the pre-show experience is a mall of restaurants, a canal with sampans and the ArtScience Museum next door. It is the easiest venue in Singapore to build a whole evening around, and the hardest to leave cheaply — everything within 200 metres is priced for the resort.

How the seating works

Both houses are conventional proscenium theatres: stalls plus circle levels, all seated. Sightlines are good throughout; the rear stalls under the circle overhang are the seats to avoid for anything with high staging.

Arriving

Bayfront MRT (Downtown and Circle lines) puts you in the basement of the complex; follow signs through the Shoppes to the theatre lobbies, which is a 5–10 minute indoor walk. Thirty to forty minutes before curtain is comfortable.

After the show

Bayfront station absorbs theatre crowds easily. If you'd rather walk, the Helix Bridge to the Esplanade and Marina Bay promenade is a ten-minute stroll with the best skyline view in the city, and Promenade and Esplanade stations are at the other end.

  • The Spectra light and water show on the Event Plaza runs nightly — check the times and build it into your evening.
  • Bag checks apply at the theatre doors; the resort's own security is separate.
