Capitol Theatre: the concert-goer’s guide
A restored 1930 art-deco theatre in the civic district, seating 977.
Capitol Theatre opened in 1930 as a cinema and is now a restored 977-seat theatre at the corner of Stamford Road and North Bridge Road, part of the Capitol Singapore development beside City Hall. It takes intimate concerts, film premieres, comedy and gala performances.
The restoration kept the proscenium arch, the plaster detailing and the sense of a 1930s picture palace, and the room is small enough that there is no bad seat. It sits in the middle of the civic district, a few minutes from the National Gallery, Raffles Hotel and the Padang — an easy venue to fold into a day of sightseeing.

How the seating works
Stalls and a circle. The retractable seating means some events are sold standing on a flat floor instead — check the configuration on your ticket page.
Arriving
City Hall MRT (North–South and East–West lines) is barely a two-minute walk; Bras Basah on the Circle Line is a few minutes further. Thirty minutes before curtain is plenty for a house this size.
After the show
A 977-seat crowd disappears in minutes. City Hall station, taxis on Stamford Road, and a short walk to the bars of the civic district and Bras Basah are all straightforward.

Things worth knowing
- The theatre entrance is inside the Capitol Singapore arcade, not on the street corner.
- Sightlines are good everywhere, so the cheaper circle seats are genuinely worth taking.
- It's a heritage building: legroom in the stalls is tighter than in a modern theatre.
