The story
National Gallery Singapore opened in 2015 within two restored national monuments, the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings, linked by a striking modern canopy. It holds one of the world's largest public collections of modern Southeast Asian and Singaporean art. City Hall itself was the site of the Japanese surrender in 1945 and Singapore's early National Day celebrations, giving the gallery deep historical resonance.
