The story

The Singapore Botanic Gardens, founded in 1859, is Singapore's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2015. It played a pivotal role in the region's rubber trade, pioneering techniques that fuelled the plantation industry. Spanning over 80 hectares, the gardens blend heritage landscapes, ornamental plantings and pockets of rainforest, and are home to the world-renowned National Orchid Garden with its thousands of orchid displays.
