The P1 Registration Timeline by Your Child's Age: What to Do at 3, 4, 5 and 6
Working backwards from Primary 1 registration — the volunteer sign-up that closes two years early, the alumni membership deadline, the 30-month address clock, and what is still open at age 6.

Read this backwards from the exercise. Almost everything that gives a family an advantage in Primary 1 registration is decided long before registration opens; by the time the portal goes live, the phases you are eligible for are already fixed.

What is still open at age six
Plenty, if you are realistic. Phase 2C is open to every child, it has 40 reserved places at every school plus two-thirds of the Phase 2A leftovers, and most primary schools in Singapore are not oversubscribed. The families who struggle are the ones targeting one specific oversubscribed school from outside the 1 km band with no earlier-phase route.
The one thing that is not a last-minute decision
Address. Distance priority is computed from where you live, and using it commits you to that address for 30 months. If moving is part of the plan, it is a housing decision made a year ahead, with a lock-in attached — see moving house for a primary school.
