The story
Kampong Glam is Singapore's historic Malay-Muslim quarter, once the seat of Malay royalty under the early colonial settlement. At its heart stands the Sultan Mosque, whose present grand building with its golden domes was completed in the mid-1920s. The surrounding streets, including Arab Street and Bussorah Street, are lined with textile shops, cafés and heritage shophouses, making the district a rich blend of tradition and contemporary culture.
