The Star Theatre from Changi Airport

About 56 minutes door to door on public transport, roughly S$2.42 with 1 transfer. Driving it is 30.6 km, about 30 minutes clear of event traffic.

The short answer

Take East-West Line to Tanah Merah, then East-West Line to Buona Vista. About 56 minutes with 1 transfer, roughly S$2.42. From Buona Vista MRT Station it is about a 3-minute walk to the venue. On a show night, leave 101 minutes before you need to be at the gate.

Changi is where a same-day arrival starts. The MRT platform sits under Terminals 2 and 3 (a free Skytrain hop from T1 and T4), and the train into town is far quicker than a taxi in the evening peak.

Driving times are our own routing over OpenStreetMap and assume clear roads. The Star Vista has a basement car park with direct lift access to the theatre lobbies. It is small relative to a 5,000-seat house, so it fills early on show nights.

Timing it on a concert night

  • Allow about 101 minutes from Changi Airport — the routed 56 minutes plus a buffer for platform crowds, the walk from the station and the bag check at the gate.
  • Thirty to forty-five minutes before showtime is plenty. Come up from Buona Vista MRT (East–West and Circle lines) through the covered link to The Star Vista, then take the escalators to your level. Doors are usually 30–60 minutes before curtain.
  • The crowd empties down through the mall atrium into Buona Vista station, which handles it well — this is the least painful exit of any large venue in Singapore. Trains on both lines run until roughly midnight; if your show runs long, the bus stops on North Buona Vista Road and Commonwealth Avenue West are alternatives.
